We are pleased to present an opportunity to join our team as a Sterile Processing Technician on the Night Shift.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments and patient care equipment.
Duties include restocking and exchanging crash carts, issuing supplies, operating sterilization machinery, and maintaining essential documentation for regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities:
Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Adhere to proper procedures for biological monitoring of sterilizers in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards. Ensure daily review, compliance, and maintenance of all sterilization and biological monitoring records. Uphold Sterility Assurance through the application of appropriate chemical and biological indicators and verification of sterilizer parameters.
Demonstrate understanding of the functionality and appropriate use of the Sterrad Sterilization System, including precautions and compatibility of scopes and electronic devices.
Exhibit knowledge of the Washer Decontaminator and the correct dilution of chemical detergents and additives.
Handle and process contaminated instruments and equipment appropriately.Identify, understand, and prepare surgical instruments for all hospital services.
Manage proper supply distribution.
Oversee crash cart restocking and exchange.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, candidates must possess a High School diploma or GED. Certification as a Central Service Technician (HSPA) or Certification from the Certification for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) is required. *Provisional certification is acceptable, with 400 hours of hands-on training needed prior to the expiration of the provisional certification.
Required Licenses:
Sterile Processing & Distribution Certification (CBSPD), Central Sterile Technician Certification (HSPA)
Preferred Qualifications:
1-2 years of experience in Central Service or Surgical Processing.
Basic understanding of aseptic techniques, sterilization methods, infection control, and workflow principles, as well as equipment and supply processing.
Demonstrated familiarity with all medical and surgical equipment and supplies in a hospital environment, with the ability to accurately identify items against catalog listings of surgical instruments and equipment.
Exercise sound judgment to ensure the provision of necessary supplies and equipment for patient care.Familiarity with various surgical equipment, including but not limited to:
dental, optometry/ophthalmology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, ENT, GYN, cardiology, dermatology, urology, podiatry, and general surgery.
