Job Summary:

The Surgical Technician will work under the guidance of the Registered Nurse to ensure the care and safety of patients during surgical procedures. This role requires technical assistance in the Operating Room, knowledge of patient ages, and adherence to asepsis principles. The ideal candidate will be organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and possess excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operating room with the nursing staff for surgical procedures in a timely and organized manner.
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize all equipment in the OR and Endoscopic Lab.
• Coordinate patient care with the RN Circulator and maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures.
• Assist physicians during surgical procedures and have correct instrumentation organized and available.
• Follow verbal physician orders in the operating suite and handle surgical specimens.
• Compile necessary equipment on the surgical field and timely document unusual occurrence reports and other departmental forms as required.
• Perform CPR as needed and correctly use all applicable instruments and equipment.
• Clean and wrap instruments for sterilization and transport patients to and from the OR.
• Monitor surgical equipment, maintenance, and repairs, and complete duties as a technical scrub in the OR.
• Prepare the room and equipment for Endoscopy procedures and maintain a cooperative disposition within the OR room.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS Certification.
• Current CST Certification (preferred).
• Ability to make sound judgments and pass a Background Check and Drug Screen.
• Salary commensurate with up to 10 years of experience.
