Senior Electrical Engineer - Avionics Systems

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of avionics systems for our air vehicle programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop full-cycle PCBs, including requirements gathering, schematic design, component selection, and layout.
  • Develop air vehicle avionics systems, including flight controls, sensors, payload interfaces, power management, and networking.
  • Create system interconnect diagrams and define wire harnesses for electronic equipment within the vehicle.
  • Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to ensure design compliance with avionics standards.
  • Evaluate vendors and components for avionics system sourcing.
  • Conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews.
  • Develop and test avionics system components through lab, ground, and flight tests.
  • Develop low-level firmware for bring-up and test.
  • Analyze root causes of issues in support of field operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 5+ years of experience in designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs.
  • Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, current-probes, and automation of tests.
  • Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc.
  • Familiarity with common MCU, CPU, FPGA devices and technologies.
  • Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits.
  • Experience with electronic CAD tools, such as Altium, Eagle, and others.
  • Experience in design for signal integrity and power integrity.
  • U.S. Person status is required for access to export-controlled data.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160, and relevant avionics design standards for UAS.
  • Familiarity with aircraft avionics module vendors and avionics component suppliers from past experience in UAS programs.
