The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist plays a crucial role in generating high-quality diagnostic images through advanced MRI technology.

Key Responsibilities

As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist at Hackensack Meridian Health, your daily activities will include:

  • Reviewing patient records and physician orders to establish optimal imaging parameters for suspected conditions.
  • Selecting appropriate imaging coils for each study.
  • Conducting imaging procedures using established scanning techniques and protocols.
  • Collaborating with physicians to refine MRI sequences for superior image quality.
  • Administering contrast agents in accordance with departmental protocols.
  • Confirming pregnancy status when necessary.
  • Obtaining consent documentation for MRI procedures as required.
  • Ensuring patients are adequately prepared for their imaging sessions.
  • Documenting diagnostic and patient information accurately in the medical record.
  • Applying post-processing techniques to enhance imaging results.
  • Preparing sterile contrast media and other solutions while adhering to infection control guidelines.
  • Providing emergency care, including CPR, when needed.
  • Conducting MRI safety screenings to identify contraindications (e.g., foreign bodies, medical conditions).
  • Managing scheduled shifts, including holidays and weekends, as required.
  • Working overtime as necessary to maintain high-quality patient care.
  • Participating in on-call assignments in accordance with hospital and departmental policies.
  • Performing daily administrative tasks, including using EMR, PACS, Teletracking System, and other hospital computer systems.
  • Welcoming patients upon arrival for their exams while adhering to A.I.D.E.T. standards.
  • Following hospital policies regarding employee identification, behavior standards, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Maintaining MRI Safety Zones at all times.
  • Identifying and addressing the specific needs of the patient population served, adapting care accordingly (e.g., age, culture, language, sensory impairments).
  • Upholding the standards outlined in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
  • Performing additional duties and projects as assigned.
  • Complying with Hackensack Meridian Health organizational competencies and behavioral standards.

Qualifications

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Compliance with ARRT or ARMRIT MRI educational and clinical standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in MRI.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

  • Regular interaction with medical staff and visitors.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push and pull at least 50 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours daily.
