The successful candidate will oversee classes, activities, volunteer initiatives, transportation, and services, while supervising the Senior Services Program Specialist and preparing and administering the annual budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage operations and programming for Senior Center and Community Building rentals and usage, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Supervise staff, including prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, and maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.
  • Develop and implement program goals, objectives, activities, and strategic initiatives, assessing consequences and outcomes.
  • Oversee programs and events for active older adults, recruiting and training volunteers for the Good Neighbor Team, Handyman services, and other initiatives.
  • Prepare and manage the annual operating and expenditures budget for the Senior Services Division, including obtaining and approving invoices, quotes, and contracts.
  • Coordinate with internal and external departments, personnel, and agencies, attending meetings and serving as a liaison to facilitate and coordinate department operations.
  • Ensure safety protocols and issues are addressed regarding facility and vehicle maintenance.
  • Prepare, review, and update financial and general reports, memos, letters, records, newsletters, and marketing materials, designing and updating websites and maintaining databases and online systems.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level, including completing grant applications, assisting with community events, and operating a 14-passenger bus.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Geriatrics, or a related field, and three years of supervisory-level experience in parks and recreation.
  • Valid Texas driver's license and CPR and AED certification, or ability to obtain within six months.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles, public relations, program principles and practices, recordkeeping, marketing, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Skills in monitoring and evaluating employees, prioritizing and assigning work, using computers and software applications, designing and evaluating programs, and providing public relations.
Working Conditions

Positions in this class typically require medium work, exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbents work primarily in an office environment, with some exposure to hazardous materials and outdoor temperatures.
