Job Summary:

Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for coordinating and performing diagnostic medical imaging procedures utilizing radiopharmaceutical and medical imaging equipment. The ideal candidate will follow professional and departmental protocols to provide the physician with diagnostic images to identify and/or plan appropriate treatment for the patient's condition. The successful candidate will possess excellent behavior and communication skills that align with the organization's mission, values, and culture.

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - New Braunfels is a full-service facility that continues to expand to meet the needs of New Braunfels' strong population growth. The hospital offers innovative equipment and procedures, including an Outpatient Imaging Center, orthopedic and surgical services, rehabilitation, a renovated birthing center, emergency care, wound care/hyperbaric center, 3D mammography, and comprehensive heart care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Adhere to standards for radiation safety and for appropriate waste separation and disposal of radioactive agents.
  • Document daily all calibrations and flood films for all Nuclear Medicine imaging equipment, Dose Calibrator accuracy check, Hot Lab area survey, dispensed pharmaceuticals, and radioactive source disposal.
  • Practice safe handling of radio nuclides and radiation safety procedures at all times.
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, as prescribed by the Physician, by adhering to established procedures.
  • Perform periodic quality control tests, documenting according to Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate adherence to the CORE Values of CHRISTUS Health.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology or other accepted and approved equivalent required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year's experience in a clinical nuclear medicine setting required.
  • Two (2) years' experience in a clinical Radiology setting is preferred.
  • Current State Licensure required.
  • Current BLS (American Heart Association) required.
  • Registration by one of the credentialing bodies for Nuclear Medicine Technologists is required.
