Job Title: Technical Planning Department Manager

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Technical Planning Department Manager to join our team. As a key member of the Accelerator Directorate, you will be responsible for managing the planning and implementation of manufacturing and production processes within SLAC.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate the Technical Planning team to ensure efficient and reliable operation of SLAC's accelerators.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and practices related to work planning, safety, and management and operation improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Suppliers, and other functions to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Perform budget planning and assume financial and schedule accountability.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with SLAC scientists and engineers, as well as external suppliers and partners.
Requirements:
  • Associate Degree or equivalent in a related field, or 7 years of experience in manufacturing and mechanical fabrication.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising or leading teams, with a strong focus on safety, customer service, and work planning and control.
  • Knowledge of mechanical fabrication, machining tools, and manufacturing processes, including welding, machining, sheet metal, metal finishing, and ultrahigh vacuum processing.
  • Strong planning and project management skills, including resource and budget planning, risk management, and critical path analysis.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
