Job Summary

Scripps Health is seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team at the Qualcomm Employee Health Center. As an LVN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the health center's activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and assist in patient triage processing, preparation, and assistance with patient examinations, administering medications, venipuncture, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, and patient education.
  • Responsible for specific appointments requiring independent judgment, performing other related duties as assigned.
  • Initiative, ability to prioritize critical demands in real-time, and flexibility to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Patient assessments and care tasks, including emergency procedures and medication administration as appropriate.
  • Educate patients and families and document patient interactions.
  • Practicing infection control and contributing to the team as necessary to ensure quality patient care within own scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Current California LVN license
  • American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Provider
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and follow instructions in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proven LVN experience in primary care; skills in accurately taking and recording vital signs, height, and weight; administering medication, including injections; interviewing patients; and collecting and/or testing specimens.
  • Requires knowledge in medical terminology, online scheduling, electronic medical record, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics.
  • Thorough knowledge of the normal range of values for vital signs and of basic lab and infection control procedures; standard items used to stock exam rooms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the patient flow process to efficiently monitor appointments, patients, and available providers.
  • General knowledge of pharmaceuticals and able to process PARs.
  • Proven ability to serve as a resource and effectively lead and mentor staff.
  • Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, integrity, accountability, and innovation.
  • This position requires demonstrated capability to provide exceptional customer service, helping with inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of outpatient experience as LVN or LPN
  • Experience in an outpatient setting
  • Two years or more of recent experience as a licensed vocational nurse
  • Laboratory experience
  • Population Health
  • Inventory Management
  • Epic Computer Systems
  • Auditing and abstracting patient records
