Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing essential maintenance tasks necessary for the construction, repair, and upkeep of all plant machinery, utilities, buildings, and associated structures. This role supports more experienced technicians in executing advanced tasks and operates on a Monday through Friday schedule. Participation in an on-call rotation is required.

Key Responsibilities

The technician will undertake various maintenance duties, including but not limited to:
  • Servicing equipment, including greasing and oil changes in gear drives, and cleaning filters.
  • Installing and repairing safety guards.
  • Conducting welding and cutting repairs as necessary.
  • Repairing packaging machinery as needed.
  • Making adjustments and replacing components on crushers.
  • Replacing screen decks as required.
  • Assisting with the overhaul of Raymond mills and component replacements.
  • Maintaining dust collectors and replacing bags.
  • Servicing air compressors and dryers, including radiator cleaning and filter replacements.
  • Adjusting airlock seals and checking air purge systems.
  • Repairing pneumatic conveying systems, including piping and coupling replacements.
  • Replacing and adjusting belts and chains as necessary.
  • Constructing and setting up concrete forms and rebar.
  • Fabricating and installing various types of piping and tubing.
  • Repairing plumbing fixtures and toilets.
  • Reporting issues encountered during repairs to the Supervisor and suggesting potential solutions.
  • Adhering to company policies and safety guidelines.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • 3 to 5 years of industrial experience or technical school equivalent, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work safely in laboratory and plant environments.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including multiplication, addition, and percentages, with the use of a calculator if necessary.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to read and understand safety manuals, operating procedures, and production reports.
  • A valid driver's license is required for job-related transportation.
Physical Demands

The physical requirements of this position include:
  • Performing bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items.
  • Occasionally lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 lbs, and the ability to ascend and descend ladders, climb stairs, crouch, and crawl.
  • Climbing on various plant structures as maintenance needs arise.
