About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and charismatic Smokehouse Pit Master to join our team at Lowes Foods. As a key member of our meat department, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences and driving sales growth through your passion for smoked meats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guest Engagement: Develop and maintain a strong rapport with guests, providing personalized interactions and creating a welcoming atmosphere in the store.
  • Meat Department Leadership: Supervise and train smokehouse staff to ensure they meet high standards of service, product knowledge, and operational efficiency.
  • Product Preparation and Presentation: Prepare and display smoked meats in an attractive and appealing manner, ensuring high-quality products meet our company standards.
  • Inventory Management: Receive, order, and stock smoked meats and other departmental products, maintaining accurate inventory levels and minimizing waste.
  • Sanitation and Safety: Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to company standards and regulations.
  • Training and Development: Provide guidance, orientation, and feedback to smokehouse staff to ensure they meet performance standards and achieve their full potential.
  • Additional Duties: Perform light meat cutting duties, make PA announcements, and assist with other tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Personality and Communication Skills: Friendly, energetic, and outgoing personality with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Meat Cutting and Preparation Experience: Previous experience in meat cutting, trimming, and preparation, preferably in a retail or food service environment.
  • Culinary Knowledge: Familiarity with meat department operations, including deli and meat cutting procedures.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Ability to supervise and train staff, including developing and implementing training programs.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using computers and other technical equipment, including point-of-sale systems and inventory management software.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift 25 pounds consistently and 50 pounds occasionally, as well as stand for extended periods.
