About the Role

Amtrak is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our passengers, employees, and property. You will perform a variety of duties, including patrolling railroad property, responding to emergencies, and enforcing federal, state, and local laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol railroad property on foot and in a police vehicle to ensure the safety and security of passengers, employees, and property.
  • Respond to emergencies, including derailments, floods, fires, and hazardous material incidents.
  • Enforce federal, state, and local laws, and make arrests as necessary.
  • Conduct thorough investigations to solve crimes and reduce criminal opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with passengers, employees, and law enforcement agencies.
Requirements
  • Valid Basic Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) certification.
  • One year of full-time equivalent work experience as a certified law enforcement professional.
  • Ability to pass a physical agility test, interview, psychological examination, and in-depth background investigation.
  • Ability to obtain a railroad police commission from the State of Oregon.
