Key Responsibilities

The essential duties and skills required for the Food Service Worker position include, but are not limited to:
  • Utilizing appropriate cleaning agents to sanitize food preparation areas.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of walk-in refrigerators and freezers in a food service environment.

  • Preparing sandwiches using prepped ingredients for dining services.

  • Brewing coffee using commercial-grade coffee makers.
  • Setting up dining areas with glasses, utensils, dishes, trays, and condiments.
  • Cleaning heavy cooking utensils such as pots and mixing bowls.
  • Performing extensive cleaning tasks, including ceilings and exhaust hoods.
  • Operating a conveyor belt dishwasher.
  • Arranging cafeteria lines and steam tables with food items.
  • Clearing tables and transporting trays of dishes for extended periods.
  • Regularly sweeping and mopping high-traffic areas.
  • Moving kitchen equipment for cleaning purposes.
  • Delivering meals to patients or patrons.
  • Disposing of food waste and trash.
  • Interpreting written materials such as schedules and safety instructions.
  • Following safety data sheets for hazardous materials.
  • Adhering to sanitation principles to prevent food spoilage.
  • Complying with safety protocols while lifting and transporting food items.
  • Maintaining a high level of work quality while working efficiently.
  • Identifying health and safety hazards in the workplace.
  • Working effectively under time constraints.
Work Schedule: Varies to include weekends and holidays, with shifts available in the morning and evening.

Physical Demands: This position requires light to moderate physical effort, including the potential for heavy work. Employees may be required to lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted and occasionally more with assistance.
