Job Overview

Hamilton-Madison House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of its community. The Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Finance staff in managing day-to-day financial transactions, budgeting, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accounting support for government contracts, including budgets, financial reporting, and preparing vouchers and justifying expenses for drawdowns.
  • Assist with the monthly close process, financial reporting, and collaborate with colleagues in the Finance Department.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll and other payroll-related duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Record and process Accounts Receivable, daily banking transactions, and update Accounts Payable.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Support financial analysis and compliance with internal policies and procedures consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Requirements
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience in a nonprofit finance department.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Excellent financial analysis skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to plan, manage, and successfully complete multiple concurrent projects with deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.

Hamilton-Madison House offers a competitive salary of $25.27 per hour, 35 hours per week, and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 15 vacation days, 12 sick days, 3 personal days, and 12 paid agency-wide holidays.
