General Overview
The primary objective of this role is to enhance the welfare of both animals and humans through educational initiatives, preventive measures, and enforcement programs, as well as providing humane animal care and control services to the community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patrol assigned areas to locate and secure animals.
2. Address and resolve community concerns regarding animal-related issues.
3. Conduct investigations related to inhumane treatment, animal cruelty, and dangerous animals.
4. Educate the public and manage routine service requests, maintaining accurate records and logs.
Work Environment
This position requires physical stamina, including activities such as standing, walking, running, and lifting animals. The role may involve exposure to various weather conditions and potentially aggressive animals or individuals.
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Understanding of animal behavior and handling techniques.
- Strong customer service abilities in both written and verbal communication.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent, along with three years of relevant experience, or a combination of training and experience that meets the requirements.
Special Requirements
- Valid Florida Driver's license with a good driving record.
- Completion of the Basic 40-hour Animal Control Officer Certification Course within the designated timeframe.
