Patient Experience Specialist - Union Hospital Therapy, LLC

We are seeking a motivated and service-oriented Patient Experience Specialist to become part of our dedicated team. This role is essential in managing front office operations within our patient care environments. This is a full-time, in-office position with a weekday, day shift schedule. While prior experience is not mandatory, it is preferred. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to enhance your skills and gain valuable experience in the healthcare sector. Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage appointment scheduling, including follow-ups and proactive rescheduling of missed appointments.
  • Facilitate patient registration (check-in/out) while ensuring all data is accurate and complete.
  • Collaborate with patients and referring physicians to secure necessary referrals.
    • Maintain accurate logs of referrals as directed.
    • Coordinate scheduling for initial evaluations and follow-up visits to optimize treatment plans.
  • Verify patient insurance details in advance to ensure all necessary prior authorizations are obtained.
  • Educate patients on their coverage and payment obligations regarding therapy services.
  • Ensure patients are informed and sign required documentation for services that may not be covered by insurance.
  • Collect payments due prior to each visit, including co-payments, deductibles, and other fees.
    • This may include co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance, and payments on statements.
  • Handle incoming calls professionally and consistently, ensuring attention to detail.
    • Take messages or direct calls to voicemail when appropriate personnel are unavailable.
  • Perform additional duties related to clinic operations as assigned by the Site Coordinator, Revenue Cycle Department, or Patient Experience Coordinator.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Possesses a high school diploma or GED.
  • Has at least one year of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit throughout the assigned shift.
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism in both written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrates strong computer skills, including proficiency in databases and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team without constant supervision.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Adapts, learns, and multitasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
