Job Summary

Ivy Tech Community College is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to support our Medical Lab Technology Program. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to full-time and part-time faculty, ensuring a smooth and efficient laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist faculty in setting up equipment for labs and maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Prepare materials and supplies for labs, including ordering and receiving inventory.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upkeep of laboratory equipment, including warranty card management and MSDS data sheet maintenance.
  • Properly dispose of biohazardous waste and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with instructors to maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines.
  • Provide administrative support, including filing and record-keeping.
Requirements
  • Preferred background in Medical Laboratory experience and post-secondary education.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and other applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on confidentiality and discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication with diverse individuals and constituencies.
  • Ability to think critically and make sound judgments in compliance with college standards and guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional experience in laboratory settings or related fields.

  • Selected candidate will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including a criminal history check.
