We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the Deputy Court Collections Clerk position at the County of Newaygo, MI. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional customer service to attorneys, parties, and the public regarding Circuit Court cases.
Key Responsibilities- Counter Assistance: Provide timely and accurate assistance to attorneys, parties, and the public regarding Circuit Court cases.
- Court Correspondence: Ensure all court correspondence is processed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Case Management: Enter information into the Register of Actions (ROA) via the case management system and maintain Circuit Court files.
- Collections: Investigate and monitor court orders for collections purposes regarding fees, fines, costs, and restitution.
- Administrative Functions: Perform administrative functions related to civil, domestic, and criminal cases, including opening and docketing cases, and processing documents.
- Customer Service: Respond to inquiries at the counter, via email, and other means, providing information on court policies, procedures, and rules.
- Account Keeping: Perform account keeping activities, including calculating fees, issuing payment vouchers, and posting payments to appropriate accounts.
- Payment Processing: Accept and track payments through the Court Credit Card program.
- Personal Protection Orders: Assist the public in filing Personal Protection Orders (PPOs) and provide appropriate legal notice to the Sheriff's Office, Dispatch, and litigants.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct interviews with court patrons to determine financial ability to pay for court-ordered costs and make recommendations for payment plans.
- Collection Activities: Prepare documents for, monitor, and enforce collection activities, including initiating wage orders and delinquency notices.
- Education: High school graduation or equivalent, with advanced college-level coursework in legal secretarial or related areas preferred.
- Experience: Two years of experience in a court, law office, or other legal setting, preferably in a Circuit Court.
- Skills: Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality.
