Position Overview

The Metal Shredder Maintenance Supervisor is accountable for the upkeep and repair of electrical systems, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), carpentry, painting, and other facility systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee maintenance and operations of a metal shredder and associated downstream processes, including light and heavy equipment, conveyor systems, and general facility upkeep.

• Diagnose issues with conveyor systems and various metal processing machinery, formulating a clear action plan for necessary repairs.

• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical issues.

• Fabricate and weld metal components as required.

• Organize and maintain the yard as necessary.

• Assist and guide team members in the installation, fabrication, and repair of shredder and downstream components.

• Manage and direct all maintenance activities and operations.

• Evaluate systems or facilities to identify required maintenance or repairs.

• Plan work assignments and project schedules based on assessments of building systems.

• Ensure that maintenance and repair tasks are completed accurately and promptly.

• Assist in preparing departmental budget estimates and costs for specific repair projects.

• Conduct monthly inventory checks.

• Ensure all machinery meets operational standards.

• Review current maintenance processes to enhance efficiency.

• Utilize data analysis to anticipate and prevent future issues.

• Train new personnel in maintenance processes and protocols.

• Document and monitor daily progress and error reports.

• Maintain vendor relationships and procure new materials as necessary.

• Enforce all health and safety regulations in accordance with state and federal laws and company policies.

• Complete mandatory safety training sessions as required.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to meet operational needs.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of walking and standing.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, or crouching.
  • Physical capability to conduct inspections and carry necessary equipment.
  • Extended periods of reaching with hands and arms.
  • Consistent use of hands, arms, feet, and legs.
  • Familiarity with recycling materials.
  • Thorough understanding of production operations and machinery.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of resourcefulness.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Willingness to work various shifts and travel as needed.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
