Music Therapist: Acute Care Specialist

As a Music Therapist at Sutter Health, you will provide comprehensive music therapy services to patients and families in acute care settings. This role requires a strong understanding of music therapy principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
• Provide music therapy services to patients and families in acute care settings, including end-of-life care.
• Collaborate with the psychosocial team to develop and implement music therapy interventions.
• Develop and maintain graduate music therapy practicum and internship programs through collaboration with local universities and management team.
• Supervise volunteers and interns to students providing music-based interventions.
• Maintain accurate music therapy statistics and data.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Arts Therapy, Psychology, or related field.
• Board Certification in Music Therapy within 1 year of hire.
• Familiarity with basic activities therapies, devices, and equipment.
• Working knowledge of The Joint Commission, Title 22, and Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 (OBRA) as they relate to activities therapy.
• General understanding of medical terminology, including working proficiency in activity interest surveys, Minimum Data Set (MDS) and Resident Assessment Protocol (RAP) evaluations.
• Solid written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and teaching skills.
• Program development/administration skills, including effective group leadership skills.
• Ability to work in an environment with aged, chronically ill, disoriented, and sometimes contentious patients.
• Ability to prioritize assignments under varied and urgent conditions and work within procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
• Ability to ensure the privacy of each patient's Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with patients, their families/care givers, peers, and other healthcare providers (physicians, nurses, etc.) to provide the highest quality of patient care.
Working Conditions:
This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with variable shifts and occasional weekend requirements.

The salary range for this role is $39.59 to $53.44 per hour.
