Music Therapist: Acute Care for the Elderly and Adult Med/Surg Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Music Therapist to join our team at Sutter Health. As a Music Therapist, you will provide comprehensive music therapy services to patients and their families, meeting their emotional, physical, cognitive, social/cultural, and communicative needs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide music therapy services to patients and families in acute care settings, including end-of-life care.
- Develop and maintain graduate music therapy practicum and internship programs in collaboration with local universities and management teams.
- Supervise volunteers and interns providing music-based interventions.
- Document music therapy interventions in patient charts and maintain accurate music therapy statistics and data.
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, managers, and creative arts team members on clinical care planning and issues revealed through music therapy sessions.
- Bachelor's degree in Arts Therapy, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent education/experience.
- Board Certification in Music Therapy within 1 year of hire, with completion of internship in Music Therapy.
- Familiarity with basic activities therapies, devices, and equipment, and the ability to adapt activities to various levels of patient function and skill level.
- Working knowledge of The Joint Commission, Title 22, and Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 (OBRA) as they relate to activities therapy.
- General understanding of medical terminology, including working proficiency in activity interest surveys, Minimum Data Set (MDS), and Resident Assessment Protocol (RAP) evaluations.
