Your Impact:


The Instructor will facilitate a customized learning environment, collaborating with students and/or guardians to develop and assess academic plans.

This role will work alongside fellow educators to promote student retention and academic achievement. The position reports to the Principal or designated representative.

  • Deliver instruction using approved curricula and assign personalized learning paths to students.
  • Conduct assessments for all newly enrolled students in core subjects within the first month of enrollment.
  • Oversee and administer evaluations for students upon completion of English and Mathematics courses.
  • Engage in state and institution-mandated assessments.
  • Review and evaluate student assignments thoroughly.
  • Track and monitor student credit completion.
  • Administer, supervise, and grade assessments, providing feedback on performance.
  • Refer students to specialized subject teachers as needed.
  • Document and maintain student records in the Student Information System.
  • Manage student attendance and reporting in the SIS database.
  • Conduct final procedures for student records at the end of the learning period or when a student exits the program.
  • Collaborate with Student Relations staff on record adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation as required by educational authorities and auditors.
  • Be accessible to students and/or parents during scheduled appointments.
  • Contact students regarding missed appointments.
  • Assist students in locating additional resources as necessary.
  • Refer students to tutoring, study teams, and counseling services when appropriate.
  • Implement disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Ensure all student work is organized and maintained properly.
  • Meet Michigan Professional Teaching Standards.
  • Develop yearly academic plans aligned with upcoming state standards.
  • Complete report cards at the end of each semester and when a student exits the program.
  • Participate in the creation of innovative curricula that meet the educational needs of students and the institution as directed by school leadership.
  • Attend all staff meetings and required professional development sessions.
  • Participate in graduation ceremonies and other school-related events.
  • Adhere to attendance policies.
  • Perform administrative tasks and responsibilities as assigned, which may be modified periodically.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with Michigan Teaching Standards and understanding of the organization’s culture and services.
  • Awareness of educational trends, research, and technology that enhance learning.
  • Understanding of instructional strategies necessary for effective teaching across diverse student populations, including those at risk of academic challenges.
  • Knowledge of various educational programs.
  • Ability to tailor instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders to deliver a rigorous educational program.
  • Ability to engage with all racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability, and socioeconomic groups.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to provide clear instructions and constructive feedback.
  • Capability to make independent decisions, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to exceptional service.

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid Teaching License issued by the Michigan Department of Education.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Experience with educational information systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Willingness to travel as required for job duties.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
