Job Summary

At SSM Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in sonography and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for setting up and adjusting equipment, manually maneuvering transducers, and implementing safety standards and quality control procedures.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Perform diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure
  • Set up and adjust equipment, manually maneuvering transducers
  • Implement safety standards and perform quality control procedures
  • Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations
  • Ensure equipment is properly functioning and report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and other areas
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies and work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
Education and Experience

We require a completion of a Sonography certification program and no experience is required. However, prior experience in a related field is preferred.

Physical Requirements

The successful candidate will be able to stand and walk constantly, use vision and depth perception for distances near and far, and use hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. They will also be able to lift and move patients, and use their hands and arms to perform tasks.

Required Professional Licenses and Certifications

We require a Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) and a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification with an Abdomen (AB) Specialty from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
