Position Overview:
The Graduate Student Event Supervisor plays a vital role in maintaining a secure and responsible atmosphere at university-sponsored gatherings and events. This position is dedicated to fostering responsible alcohol consumption, ensuring adherence to university regulations, and providing support to student organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Event Preparation:
    Collaborate with event organizers to grasp the event's objectives, target audience, and anticipated turnout. Familiarize yourself with the university's alcohol policies, code of conduct, and event protocols.
  2. Monitoring and Compliance:
    Work alongside undergraduate Sober Hosts to oversee the conduct and safety of attendees during Greek-sponsored social events. Ensure compliance with legal drinking age and event policies while addressing any concerning behaviors.
  3. Promotion of Responsible Drinking:
    Engage with attendees in a friendly manner to encourage moderation and responsible drinking practices.
  4. Assistance and Support:
    Provide help to individuals who may need assistance due to overconsumption or medical issues. Coordinate with event organizers and medical personnel when necessary.
  5. Conflict Resolution:
    Mediate conflicts and manage disruptive behavior to uphold a respectful and safe environment.
  6. Post-Event Responsibilities:
    Participate in debriefings to evaluate successes and challenges, providing feedback on alcohol management strategies and policy adherence.

Qualifications:
  1. A Bachelor's degree is required.
  2. Admission to a graduate program at the University of Redlands or another accredited institution is necessary.
  3. CPR-First Aid certification is mandatory.
  4. A valid California Class C driver's license with a clean driving record is essential.

Knowledge and Skills:
Understanding of individual and group behavior principles, responsible drinking practices, and applicable laws regarding alcohol consumption. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups are essential. Must demonstrate empathy, patience, and the ability to remain composed in challenging situations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.

Physical Requirements:
This role involves standard office and field settings, requiring flexibility to work evenings and weekends to align with event schedules. The Graduate Student Event Supervisor will be present at social events and may need to navigate various locations, ensuring the ability to manage physical demands associated with the role.
