Compensation: $19-23/hr based on experience
Work Schedule: 8am-5pm CST, 40 hours per week
Role Summary: This position involves floating between multiple clinics as necessary.
Essential Qualifications:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role
- Preferred experience in a clinical or outpatient environment
- Current BCLS or CPR certification
- Proficient in computer usage, particularly with Athena software
- Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic and professionalism
- Experience in oncology is advantageous
Daily Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a team of 7 Medical Oncologists and 7 Medical Assistants
- Work closely with assigned physicians and nursing staff in a supportive atmosphere
- Manage a patient load of 18-25 individuals daily
- Prepare charts with assistance from Advanced Practice Providers or nursing staff
- Escort patients to various locations within the clinic as needed
- Document patient information prior to physician consultations, including vital signs, medical history, and medication updates
- Gather necessary patient records as required by the physician
- Maintain and organize exam and treatment rooms, ensuring supplies are stocked
- Assist physicians during examinations and procedures as requested
- Administer injections as directed by the RN or physician
- Uphold disinfection protocols for all exam and treatment areas
- Handle patient inquiries via phone, directing them to the appropriate healthcare provider
- Process prescriptions and manage patient communications as instructed
- Notify physicians of patient cancellations and rescheduling
- Perform various administrative tasks such as typing, filing, and chart preparation as needed
- May enter orders under the supervision of a provider.
