EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / EXPERIENCE:

Registered Nurse with a minimum of six months of clinical experience or successful completion of the probationary NC I period as documented in the nursing evaluation tool. Must hold and maintain a valid Registered Nurse license or permit to practice in Texas. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This role is designated for an Advanced Beginner Clinician. The incumbent possesses the requisite knowledge and skills to fulfill nursing standards for professional practice as outlined in the Texas Nurse Practice Act, operating without direct supervision. The clinician is adept at recognizing when additional support is necessary and actively seeks appropriate resources. The practice is characterized by a blend of dependent and interdependent decision-making processes, with a focus on enhancing knowledge and skills within a specialized area. Patient care is delivered through nursing practices aligned with the American Nurses Association Standards of Professional Practice and Professional Performance, while valuing the strategic initiatives of the specialty unit, nursing, and the overarching health system goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Professional Practice
Nursing Process

  • Conducts assessments, formulates plans, implements interventions, evaluates outcomes, and documents the daily care of assigned patients.
  • Identifies nursing diagnoses and patient care requirements. Develops and customizes care plans, revising them as necessary.
  • Implements physician's orders for all assigned patients. Administers medications and treatments while delivering culturally sensitive and specialty-appropriate nursing care in accordance with institutional policies and standards.
  • Performs routine technical procedures and skills pertinent to the assigned specialty area.

Patient/Family Education & Health Promotion

  • Provides foundational patient and family education based on identified learning needs, including patient values, beliefs, barriers, and readiness to learn.
  • Recognizes the potential impact of family dynamics on patient care.
  • Utilizes evidence-based resources to facilitate patient and family education.
  • Employs the Teach-Back method to assess the effectiveness of education and adjusts strategies as necessary.

Care Coordination & Delegation

  • Plans, coordinates, and prioritizes patient care activities based on skill level and complexity of work.
  • Ensures safety and continuity of care through methods such as bedside shift reports and interdisciplinary rounding.
  • Exhibits effective time management skills.
  • Delegates tasks appropriately while seeking guidance when necessary.

  • Prioritizes and organizes work to meet required assignments within specified time frames.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment, adhering to proper aseptic techniques and infection control measures.

  • Ensures accurate and legible documentation for all patient and unit records.
  • Utilizes electronic communication and documentation effectively.
  • Meets compliance requirements for health screening, training, attendance, safety, and CPR.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse (RN)

SALARY RANGE:

Salary is commensurate with experience.
