Utility Line Worker

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tree Care Specialist to join our team at Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC - 023. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for providing exceptional tree pruning and removal services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Trim and remove trees, branches, and trunk sections to maintain a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment.
- Operate and maintain various tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and trucks.
- Cut and split large debris into manageable pieces to ensure efficient removal.
- Apply herbicides to prevent further growth and maintain a healthy environment.
- Load and unload trucks to ensure timely and efficient transportation of equipment and materials.
- Feed brush and debris into wood chippers to process and remove waste.
- Repair minor damage to lawns, fences, and walkways to maintain a safe and tidy environment.
- Service and maintain gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Relay hand signals, direct traffic, drive, and operate trucks and equipment as assigned.
- Keep trucks and work areas clear and organized to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
- Cooperate with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
- Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, and markers to protect employees and the public.
- Perform tree and bucket rescues as trained.
- Assist in training new employees to ensure a smooth transition and high-quality service.
- Inspect and maintain tools, trucks, and other work equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Request repair or replacement of equipment as necessary.
- Maintain good housekeeping on trucks and at work locations to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Perform other related work as assigned by superiors.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- No fear of heights.
- Excellent hand-to-eye coordination.
- Able to walk, climb, and work from ladders, various heights, on uneven and slippery surfaces, performing mentally and physically demanding work under unfavorable weather conditions while handling equipment or material.
- Able to work with hands above head for extended periods.
- Must be willing to join the local union and pay union dues.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Entry-level position, no experience required.
- Previous experience a plus.
- Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
- Driver's license required.
- Must have own transportation to and from the work location.

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
