Quality Assurance Specialist

Tenneco is a leading designer, manufacturer, and marketer of automotive products for original equipment and aftermarket customers. We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team.
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for researching, developing, and supporting new process technology as well as improving process technology in existing systems to support manufacturing needs for safety, quality, and productivity improvement.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and be able to apply them to design and develop mature assembly processes. They will also be able to provide technical assistance to the manufacturing team and train associates in new or modified manufacturing and quality processes.
Responsibilities:
- Research, design, and develop new assembly processes to support manufacturing needs in the areas of safety, quality, and productivity improvement.
- Research, redesign, and improve existing processes to support manufacturing needs and changes.
- Identify and error proof customer interface point issues using PFMEA's/Control Plans and implement poke-yoke systems to minimize/eliminate occurrences.
- Develop standardized process designs in accordance with machine build specifications.
- Provide technical assistance to the manufacturing team to maintain standards or production.
- Utilize lean manufacturing principles in the design and development of mature assembly processes as well as new product launches.
- Initiate and lead problem solving teams related to internal and external customer issues, and assist other departments as needed in problem resolution.
- Train associates in new or modified manufacturing and quality processes.
- Develop and maintain good working relations with customers by acting as the liaison and driving problem resolutions for customer concerns.
- Ensure compliance for TS-16949 and ISO-14001, including appropriate employee training.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
- Strong computer skills with ability to do spreadsheets.
- Familiarity with mainframe systems, SAP highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of QS-9000.
- Ability/willingness to travel.
- Good communication skills, verbal and written.
- Customer service oriented; responsive to needs of internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work all shifts.
