Rework Soldering Specialist

The Rework Soldering Specialist is responsible for the removal and installation of components on various assemblies, including thru-hole and SMT circuit boards.
Key Responsibilities- Support test technicians, manufacturing, and engineering by removing and installing components on various assemblies.
- Repair and replace traces, pads, thru-hole barrels, and damage to the PCB substrate in accordance with IPC-7711/7721.
- Hand solder Thru-Hole and SMD components and/or wires to circuit boards according to work instructions and/or prints.
- Clean PCBs as needed.
- Assess product revision history and assembly documentation.
- Inspect work to IPC-A-610 and IPC-7711/7721 acceptance criteria.
- Ability to use all types of soldering, desoldering, preheaters, hot air, and semi-automated BGA rework equipment.
- Document repair information as required.
- Ability to process customer returns via Altek policy and procedure.
- Completes rework on time while maintaining a steady flow of work.
- Actively participates in quality initiatives by participating in problem-solving, process improvements, and performance measurements.
- Responsible for understanding and following company and/or manufacturing guidelines/procedures.
- Responsible for product quality as defined by internal and external customers, work instructions, specifications, and procedures.
- Responsible for following established safety rules and 6S.
- Good eyesight and eye/hand coordination.
- Ability to read and understand assembly prints.
- Ability to solder surface mount and thru-hole components.
- Ability to solder fine-pitched parts, place, and remove (e.g., QFP, gull-wing leads).
- Ability to solder using a microscope.
- Basic computer skills, such as Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work with extremely small parts.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Must have a high school diploma, GED, or other equivalent experience.
- Previous thru-hole and surface mount soldering experience or training.
- J-Std, IPC-7711/7721, IPC-610, and/or other IPC certifications a plus. Must be able to obtain such certifications through our in-house training program.
Contacts are primarily with immediate Lead, Supervisor, and others in employee's home area.
Working Conditions- Lifting of materials and product up to 35 pounds individually and up to 100 pounds with help.
- Sitting for up to 8 hours per day.
