Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Stony Brook University. The selected candidate will provide direct patient care, gather information from patients, perform injections, and screen lab values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including phlebotomy, spirometry, and recording vital signs.
  • Gather information from patients to fill out medical monitoring questionnaires.
  • Perform patient injections as prescribed by the provider.
  • Take notes on visits and screen lab values as assigned.
  • Prepare patient charts and files as needed and maintain patient chart flow sheets.
  • Ensure specimens are collected and delivered in a timely manner and record results in patient charts and logs.
  • Enter medical information into EMR systems, including vital signs, medications, past medical and family history.
  • Telephone results to other care providers as instructed.
  • Assist with case care management, patient referrals, and medical inventory.
  • Participate in QI/QA projects and maintain units for delivery of high-quality care.
Requirements
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • A valid NYS License in Practical Nursing.
  • Four (4) years of full-time clinical experience in a healthcare setting, with at least one (1) of those years being a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a Family or Internal Medicine practice.
  • Experience conducting EKG's.
  • Phlebotomy certified.
  • Experience conducting spirometry tests.
  • Experience using EMR system(s).
  • Familiarity with the WTC Healthcare Program.
