Job Description:

RN Wound Care Specialist

  • The Wound Care Specialist provides comprehensive treatment and consultation to patients, acts as a role model and leader to the nursing staff, uses scientific methods to upgrade nursing practice, serves as a consultant to physicians and nursing staff, and participates in education.
  • The Wound Care Specialist advocates early identification, treatment initiation, patient evaluation, and appropriate discharge planning within the role of the Wound Care Specialist. All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives.
  • The Wound Care Specialist adheres to specific hospital policy and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive treatment and consultation to patients.
  • Act as a role model and leader to the nursing staff.
  • Use scientific methods to upgrade nursing practice.
  • Serve as a consultant to physicians and nursing staff.
  • Participate in education.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Current RN license in the state of Kentucky or Kentucky work permit.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in wound care or a direct patient care role.
  • Certification as Wound/Ostomy Care Nurse (WOCN) preferred but not required at time of hire.
