Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Customer Service Representative to join our team at the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). As a key member of our office, you will provide exceptional customer service to Maine's citizens, answering calls and providing information about services available to clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide quality customer service to clients over the phone, answering eligibility questions and providing basic information about their cases.
  • Assist clients with reporting, eligibility, and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate approved client services, including coding, computing, verifying, posting, reconciling, and updating standard documents.
  • Update case records and complete documentation requirements.
  • Inform supervisors of emergency trends in service needs.
  • Provide clients with information about how to apply for benefits.
  • Confirm receipt of documents from clients.
  • Replace various cards clients use to access benefits.
  • Provide information about resources to clients.
Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must have training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates:

  • Competency in applying a solid knowledge of the principles and practices of quality customer service to perform complex work in assisting the public with applications, fees, examinations, or social services that have an eligibility or compliance component.
  • The ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.
