The full-time Museum Store Sales Associate plays a vital role in enhancing the shopping experience at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis Store. This position is focused on sales, merchandising, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver outstanding customer service by maintaining a positive and friendly demeanor at all times.
  2. Engage customers by promoting museum-wide events and welcoming all visitors to the store.
  3. Efficiently operate the cash register, handling sales transactions and resolving minor technical issues as they arise.
  4. Maintain a thorough understanding of store merchandise to offer informed recommendations and drive sales.
  5. Stay updated on current and upcoming exhibits and museum activities to provide knowledgeable insights to customers.
  6. Ensure the store opens and closes punctually, adhering to all security protocols and completing necessary paperwork accurately.
  7. Assist in training new sales associates, sharing knowledge of products and processes to foster a collaborative environment.
  8. Support the promotion and sale of museum memberships.
  9. Monitor inventory levels to minimize shrinkage and participate in regular inventory counts.
  10. Be available for extended hours and special events as required.

Qualifications:

Candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Previous retail sales experience is preferred, although related service experience will be considered. A basic understanding of business mathematics and inventory management is necessary.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Proven ability to operate a cash register and process transactions accurately.
  • Outgoing and enthusiastic personality, with a strong commitment to professionalism and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, child-focused environment that values diversity and inclusion.

Physical Requirements:

Candidates must be able to view computer screens, communicate effectively with customers and staff, and navigate the museum's physical space. The role may require lifting up to 30 lbs and tolerating dust in the indoor environment.
