Position Overview
Patient Access Coordinator
The Patient Access Coordinator (PAC) plays a crucial role in providing a friendly and efficient entry point for individuals accessing Prairie Ridge Health services. As one of the initial contacts, the PAC is tasked with delivering exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include gathering and documenting precise demographic and insurance information during patient registration or admission. Additional duties involve confirming insurance eligibility, managing deposit collections, and performing various clerical tasks. The PAC may also undertake special projects as directed by the Patient Access Manager.


Communication Specialist
This role acts as the primary contact for incoming calls and communications via various channels, including the Voice-over IP (VoIP) Attendant Console, TDD telephone, and ambulance radio. The Communication Specialist is responsible for directing calls and ensuring effective communication with both staff and the public in both urgent and routine scenarios. This position is pivotal in coordinating information during emergency situations. Proficiency in operating diverse communication equipment, including the Attendant Console and overhead paging systems, is essential. During quieter periods, the specialist will also assist with patient registration and data entry for departmental charges, while regularly providing information and assistance to the public.


Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Prior experience in customer service is essential.
  • Experience in a hospital setting, particularly in registration or patient accounts, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with patients, healthcare professionals, and visitors.
  • Basic word processing skills are required, including the ability to create memos and professional correspondence.
  • Familiarity with health insurance products and benefits is advantageous.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software is preferred.
  • Professionalism, assertiveness in payment requests, and outstanding customer service skills are essential.
  • Experience managing multiple phone lines is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team is crucial.
  • Flexibility in work hours is required.
  • Previous experience in a customer service-oriented role is necessary.

Work Schedule
This position involves shifts during days, evenings, and weekends.
