Position Summary:

The Fire Safety Systems Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire extinguishers and various pre-engineered suppression systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize necessary tools and testing equipment, including power machines, groovers, cutters, band saws, and lifts, to service or replace fire extinguishers and pre-engineered systems.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of NFPA codes, standards, and systems related to fire extinguishers and suppression systems.
  • Diagnose and identify faulty components within pre-engineered suppression systems.
  • Repair or replace damaged parts of both suppression systems and fire extinguishers.
  • Engage with internal and external clients in a professional manner.
  • Adhere to punctuality for work assignments and complete projects within scheduled timelines.
  • Employ Field Service Lightning to manage work orders, materials, and job duration.
  • Document all work orders accurately.
  • Comply with SFP's Safety program, including the SDS book and Hazardous Communication program, and participate in weekly Toolbox talks.
  • Maintain awareness of all safety documentation relevant to each project.
  • Ensure the company vehicle is kept clean and well-maintained according to company policies.
  • Attend seminars or training sessions to stay updated on the latest technologies, codes, and standards.
  • Provide training to new service technician trainees on all relevant aspects of this role.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

The qualifications listed below are representative of the skills and experience necessary to perform this role successfully. An equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience may also be considered.

Education and Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • State or any necessary certification is preferred.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Fire Safety Industry, specifically in Fire Suppression.
  • Proficient computer skills for at least 2 years.

Communication Skills:

  • Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English with colleagues and clients.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required.
  • Must comply with SFP's Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements, which may include customer-specific conditions based on contractual agreements.
  • Willingness to travel frequently is necessary.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to bend, climb ladders, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs, reach above and below shoulders, and stand or walk for extended periods.
