About the Opportunity

\

We are seeking a highly-skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to deliver exceptional patient care in our inpatient oncology medical surgical unit at Johnston-Willis Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare.

\

The ideal candidate will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care to patients from the first day they learn of their cancer diagnosis through every stage of treatment. The RN will work closely with oncology-certified nurses and cancer experts to create and implement a care plan that meets each patient's unique needs.

Responsibilities:

  • \
  • Audit the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.\
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans.\
  • Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.\
  • Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.\
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures.\

Requirements

  • \
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).\
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.\
  • 1 year of nursing experience required.\
  • 1 year of oncology medical surgical nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.\
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification.\
  • Certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.\
