Job Description

Our client, Global Technical Talent, is seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Engineer to join its Electrical Hardware Engineering organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing rugged military electrical systems and/or subsystems for ground, shipboard, and/or airborne applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems and subsystems for military applications
  • Perform requirement review, analysis, and derivation; perform trade studies for critical subsystem and component selection
  • Perform system and circuit analysis on power schemes and digital and analog interfaces
  • Design electrical systems to meet a set of requirements, sometimes defining those requirements
  • Utilize analog electronics simulation tools such as SPICE and power conversion simulation programs like SIMPLIS or SABER to model design performance
  • Guide other team members in electrical schematic capture and Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PWB layout and technical drawing creation
  • Lead the electrical design team in developing and performing design reviews, system integration, and system verification and validation testing
Requirements:
  • A minimum of ten years of professional work experience is required, or seven years of experience with a Master's degree in a STEM-related discipline
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to be adaptable to changing priorities and assignments
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance
  • Must have design, analysis, and/or test experience with military electronic systems
  • Must be proficient in electrical circuit analysis with experience using SPICE (or similar), and other circuit simulation tools
  • Must have experience and proficiency in COTS and/or subsystem integration
  • Must have experience designing and testing to environmental standards, such as MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461
  • Must be proficient in requirements analysis, derivation, tracing, and management
Desired Skills:
  • Experience and working knowledge of Altium Designer
  • Excellent people skills working cooperatively in a team environment
  • Experience in the development and design of electronic circuit designs, multi-assembly system/unit designs, and processor designs is a plus
  • Experience with embedded test techniques, design for test, design margin analysis, and design for production
  • Design, analysis, or test experience with any of the following isolated converter topologies: flyback, half-bridge, full-bridge, push-pull
  • Professional experience with digital power control
  • Experience with military specifications or similar (MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464)
  • Experience with design and/or integration of systems using MIL-STD-1553 and/or MIL-STD-1760 interfaces
  • Design experience with Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) concerns
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience with proposal development
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) degree program
