Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pre-Admission Testing/Pre & Post Registered Nurse to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin Ambulatory Surgery Center. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and ensuring a smooth transition for patients through the pre-admission, pre-op, and post-op periods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide pre-admission testing and evaluation for patients undergoing surgery
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients based on their specific needs and physician orders
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of excellence in patient care
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Active Texas RN license
  • Minimum of three (3) years pre- or post-op experience
  • BLS & ACLS certification
  • PALS certification within 3 months of hire
  • Flexibility in days and hours available to work
  • Knowledge of current surgical procedures and anesthesia care
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizing, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • CPAN, CAPA, or healthcare quality certification
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience conducting quality improvement projects and/or serving on a quality committee
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods, walk, bend, stoop, and stretch. The ability to move quickly in response to patient needs is also required. The work environment is fast-paced and may involve exposure to infections, communicable diseases, and hazardous materials.
