Job Description

Position Overview:

Sancorp Consulting LLC is in search of a Senior Policy Analyst specializing in legislative affairs. This role is essential for supporting the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy (OUSD(P)).

Location:

Flexible work arrangement including on-site and telework options.

Employment Type:

Full-Time Employee

Travel Requirements:

Travel may be required.

Security Clearance:

Must possess an active TC/SCI clearance and be a U.S. Citizen.

Educational Qualifications:

A Master's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, or a related discipline is required.

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Active and Reserve components, with a focus on the National Guard and Department of Defense (DoD) interactions.
  • Expertise in analyzing congressional legislation and the legislative process, particularly concerning national security matters.

Preferred Experience:

  • At least 18 years of relevant experience.

Compensation:

Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Policy Analyst will be tasked with the following:

  • Deliver on-site support in formulating policies and strategies related to homeland defense and defense support of civil authorities (DSCA).
  • Draft concise and informative memoranda for DoD senior leadership regarding policy implications and strategic options.
  • Conduct assessments of risks linked to DoD plans and force structures associated with homeland defense missions.
  • Advance policy objectives through established DoD processes, including capability assessments and budgeting.
  • Assist senior DoD officials in evaluating roles in domestic incident management and homeland security missions.
  • Provide expert analysis on legislative authorities and funding mechanisms to support engagements with government counterparts.
  • Contribute to the development of regulations and directives related to homeland defense and domestic response.
  • Support policy development for incident prevention and response, including interagency coordination.
  • Prepare senior officials for participation in national-level exercises related to domestic incident management.
  • Assist in surge manning during national responses to catastrophic events.
