Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Per Diem Associate Patient Care Coordinator to join our team at Optum. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greets Visitors and Patients: You will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing a warm and welcoming experience.
  • Communicates Effectively: You will communicate with patients, families, and healthcare teams through various channels, including phone, video conferencing, and in-person interactions.
  • Handles Confidential Information: You will maintain the confidentiality of patient information and only disclose it to authorized personnel.
  • Prioritizes Tasks: You will assess and analyze information to identify immediate emergency needs and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Demonstrates Technical Knowledge: You will demonstrate technical knowledge and competence in departmental procedures and electronic medical records systems.
  • Registers Patients: You will enter and update patient demographic and financial information, ensuring patients are fully registered as early in the process as possible.
  • Collects Patient Liabilities: You will provide patients with financial responsibility information, collect patient liabilities, and balance the cash box daily.
  • Coordinates Patient Admission: You will work with partnering departments to ensure all aspects of the patient's encounter are completed as needed.
  • Provides Wayfinding Instructions: You will provide patients with wayfinding instructions and assist with hospital information as requested.
  • Meets Audit Accuracy Standards: You will meet or exceed audit accuracy standards, working worklists and error reports timely, and proactively seeking assistance to resolve as needed.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: You must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer Service Experience: You must have 1+ years of customer service experience in an office setting or professional work environment.
  • Microsoft Office Skills: You must have 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to Work Rotating Holidays: You must be able to work rotating holidays.
  • Ability to Complete Training: You must be able to complete 6-8 weeks of training during 1st shift hours.
  • Ability to Work Per Diem: You must be able to work on a per diem basis as business requires (1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift).
  • Age Requirement: You must be 18 years or older.
