Job Summary

This part-time custodial worker position is available at Varina High School. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strip, seal, wax, and buff floors
  • Scrub and rinse floors in assigned areas
  • Damp mop various rooms, including auditoriums, libraries, halls, stairs, cafeterias, kitchens, locker rooms, and mechanical equipment rooms
  • Dust various rooms, including auditoriums, stages, libraries, halls, gym floors, and cafeterias
  • Sweep shops, stairs, entrance areas, locker rooms, bleachers, sidewalks, and halls
  • Clean and scrub restrooms completely
  • Dust rooms, offices, furniture, and cupboards, and remove cobwebs
  • Empty and wash garbage cans
  • Attend work daily and be engaged and on task
  • Perform overtime work as assigned
Requirements
  • Grade school completion
  • Knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment
  • Ability to use cleaning supplies and equipment economically and efficiently
  • Ability to follow simple oral and written directions
  • Good physical condition required
  • Ability to work at high altitudes using scaffolds, ladders, etc.
