Job Overview

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To support the Belt Coordinator in overseeing all conveyor systems within the mining operation, including their installation, upkeep, enhancement, and decommissioning.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Availability to work on a rotating shift schedule.
  • Plans, supervises, and evaluates all activities related to run-of-mine belts, mainline, and panel belt conveyor operations. Collaborates with mine management to coordinate support activities of belt crews.
  • Ensures optimal operational availability and cost-effectiveness for Continuous Miner (CM) and Longwall production processes.
  • Suggests and executes enhancements in equipment and maintenance practices.
  • Facilitates meetings and organizes training sessions to boost overall belt performance.
  • Establishes objectives, priorities, and standards through effective communication and collaboration with all departments.
  • Responsible for recommending modifications and selections of conveyor belt equipment. Engages actively in contracts, equipment specifications, warranties, and pricing discussions.
  • Authorizes material and supply orders related to conveyor belts and drives within an approved limit.
  • Implements all safety regulations and procedures to maintain an injury-free workplace.
  • Develops, executes, and monitors strategies for cost reduction and productivity enhancement.

DESIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in underground coal mining supervision.
  • A decade of underground mining experience with expertise in CM, Longwall, and general conveyor operations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CM and Longwall mining techniques.
  • Strong planning and organizational capabilities.
  • Exceptional leadership skills.
  • Current certification as a Mine Foreman in Utah.
  • MSHA Electrical Certification is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is essential.

Position Reporting: This role will work closely with the Belt Coordinator and report directly to the Production Manager.

Additional Information: Candidates must undergo post-offer drug and physical screening.
