POSITION: ENGINEERING INSPECTOR
This role involves performing technical duties related to the inspection of engineering construction projects. The Engineering Inspector collaborates closely with contractors to ensure that all installations comply with approved contract documents. This is a skilled position that operates independently under the general guidance of the Roadway Production Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Daily Work Reports (DWR) detailing the contractor's field operations and inspections.
- Measure distances to confirm the accuracy of construction dimensions.
- Verify the levels, alignment, and elevation of construction activities.
- Observe and ensure that workmanship, procedures, and materials meet established plans and specifications.
- Record quantities of materials used during specified periods in the DWR.
- Maintain accurate daily records of construction activities.
- Review construction plans for compliance with County standards within Rights-of-Ways.
- Provide recommendations for Right-of-Way Permit issuance.

Monitor and inspect approved right-of-way and site plan projects to ensure compliance with County Standards, restoring all rights-of-way to their original condition. Additionally, inspect stormwater drainage facilities for site plans and land development projects. Collect photographic and video data under the supervision of the Engineering Inspection Supervisor or Roadway Production Manager.

Work independently across all phases of the Engineering Department's permitting and inspection program, while under the general supervision of the Engineering Inspection Supervisor or Roadway Production Manager. The role requires the ability to check plan grades and set grade stakes at appropriate elevations for culverts and driveways, ensuring compliance with approved plans and County regulations.

Investigate water or flooding conditions and complaints within the County's right-of-way, gathering necessary field data and condition descriptions for detailed drawings and reports. Complete daily construction reports, either manually or electronically, and prepare comprehensive data reports or summaries of work and deficiencies for presentation to County Engineering Staff, Developers, and Contractors.

Qualifications:
- Associate degree or high school diploma with two (2) years of experience in roadway or asphalt construction inspection, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses and Certifications:
- A valid Florida driver's license is required.
- Preferred certifications include CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I, CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I, Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification for Inspectors and Contractors, and FDOT Intermediate MOT.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with principles, methods, materials, and equipment related to building and street construction.
- Understanding of legal and administrative regulations pertaining to subdivision, utility, and general County construction.
- Basic principles of civil engineering as they relate to County government and construction.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications relevant to County construction.
- Capability to conduct detailed technical inspections and enforce regulations in a firm, tactful, and impartial manner.
- Proficiency in using electronic communication, spreadsheets, and word processing software to document work activities.

Work Environment:
- This position involves outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to navigate uneven surfaces typical of natural terrain and construction sites.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
