Job Title: Principal Software Engineer

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our Systems Infrastructure Engineering (SIE) team based in San Diego, California.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented software engineer with expertise in standing up and managing strategic UAV ground segment infrastructure hardware, custom software, and collaborating with developers to enable continuous integration of system software through quarterly updates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of engineers and provide daily tasking consistent with current priorities
  • Maintain an Agile development workflow
  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux (RHEL/CENTOS) 6/7/8 servers and workstations
  • Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server 2008/2016 and Windows 7/10 systems
  • Administer and troubleshoot VMWare vSphere systems (VCSA and ESXi)
  • Automate system maintenance tasks with scripting tools (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, etc.)
  • Enforce cybersecurity compliance through the use of security frameworks and remediation tools (SCC SCAP scanner, STIG Viewer, and eventually Nessus)
  • Maintain proper configuration management with engineering document lifecycle tools (Team Center Enterprise)
Requirements:
  • 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related STEM discipline (9 years relevant experience without a Bachelor's in STEM); or 2 years relevant experience with a Master's degree in a related STEM discipline
  • Candidate must have, and be able to maintain a US SECRET security clearance
  • Minimum of 4 years installing, configuring, maintaining, and administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6/7/8 servers and workstations
  • Minimum of 4 years installing, configuring, maintaining, and administering Windows-based servers and workstations
  • Meets DoD IAT requirements for security certification for classified systems administrators, or be in the process of obtaining one (i.e., Security+, CISSP, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active US TOP SECRET clearance
  • Experience with VMWare infrastructure
  • Experience with Ansible
  • Certification from VMWare, Windows (MCSE), and/or RedHat with Satellite Administration
  • US Passport and ability to frequently travel overseas

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
