Job Summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Transplant team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to transplant patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Provide education to patients and families on transplant-related topics, including medication management, wound care, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to the development of patient care plans.
  • Document patient information accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record.
Requirements
  • Current RN licensure in the State of California.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent RN experience in acute or ambulatory care.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience working in an ambulatory setting.
  • Previous experience working in an outpatient clinic, urgent care, or emergency department.
  • Proven independent thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and prioritizing skills.
  • Proven experience of strong clinical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BSN degree.
  • EPIC experience.
  • Previous experience working with solid organ transplant patients in an ambulatory setting.
  • Charge RN or other leadership experience.
  • Emergency department, Critical Care, or step-down experience.
Working Conditions

Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.

Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Selected candidate may be hired at the CN III level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
