Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team at the Medical College of Wisconsin. As a key member of our Finance and Administration Department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting and financial tasks, including financial statement preparation, audit support, and grant management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules, including analysis of variances from budget and prior year balances.
  • Audit Support: Participate in the annual audit process, including preparation of audit workpapers, financial statements, and footnotes.
  • Grant Management: Prepare financial surveys, settlements, and other financial reporting and accounting duties timely and accurately, as assigned.
  • Financial Analysis: Assist with the preparation and analysis of annual tax return workpapers and compliance reporting.
  • Special Projects: Perform special project work that supports the transition to a new ERP system, including account closures, reconciliations, and asset capitalization.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in a complex, automated accounting environment with duties in financial analysis, financial statement preparation, and account reconciliation.
  • Skills: Proficient knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, advanced technology skills, and strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
