Job Summary

The Director of Facilities Management is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the maintenance and engineering activities of all BMS facilities. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, including HRSA and New York City requirements, and manages the maintenance, housekeeping, and service practices of the facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Engineering: Ensure the maintenance of all facilities, including building maintenance and engineering activities, to ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including HRSA and New York City requirements, and maintain knowledge of all applicable regulations.
  • Facilities Management: Oversee the maintenance, housekeeping, and service practices of the facilities, including the management of vendors and the submission of purchase orders.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Serve as the Fire and Safety Director and Director of Emergency Preparedness, conducting safety surveillance rounds and drills, and providing training on environment of care and emergency preparedness.
  • Staff Management: Recruit and manage staff to carry out the various functions of the department, including evaluating staff competency and providing training and development opportunities.
  • Capital Projects: Serve as a technical in-house liaison for improvements, renovations, and construction projects, evaluating EOC staff competency and participating in capital project meetings.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field of work.
  • Experience: At least 7 years of supervisory/managerial experience in facilities management, preferably in a healthcare environment and emergency management.
  • Certifications: NYC Fire and Safety Certificate of Fitness required.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge and experience with Joint Commission standards for Environment of Care, DOH Article 28 standards, and regulatory agency requirements applicable to all BMS sites.
