The Plant Maintenance Technician role is essential for inspecting and diagnosing machinery issues, as well as performing preventative maintenance and repairs on aggregate plant processing equipment. This includes stationary machinery and mechanical systems such as conveyor belts, shakers, pumps, and gearboxes. The technician may also engage in various tasks such as fabrication, welding, cutting, grinding, greasing, and general housekeeping duties. Proficiency in operating cranes, man-lifts, hoists, and various hand and power tools is required. This position operates on a night shift schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in plant safety initiatives
- Maintain a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues
- Enhance equipment performance through timely repairs and preventative maintenance
- Collaborate with supervisors to prioritize maintenance tasks
- Complete necessary documentation to ensure compliance with company standards
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of maintenance vehicles
- Prioritize safety, quality, and production in all tasks
- Conduct pre-shift safety inspections of equipment and work areas
- Perform checks, repairs, or replacements on pumps as needed
- Ensure completion of preventative maintenance and lubrication services
- Provide training and guidance to fellow employees on maintenance practices
- 1 to 3 years of experience in heavy-duty maintenance or a related field, preferably within the aggregates industry
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Ability to perform tasks safely and effectively
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Solid mechanical aptitude
- Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in welding techniques, including oxy/acetylene and MIG
- Ability to identify and procure basic parts for equipment maintenance
- Comfortable working in various environmental conditions and at heights
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and lifting
- Capability to operate machinery and tools safely
- Ability to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions
- Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs and carry objects over distances
This role involves outdoor assignments and requires adaptability to various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and dust. The work environment may include exposure to elevated noise levels.
