About the Job

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor to join our Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Outpatient (OP) programs in Maryland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients' substance use history, mental health status, and readiness for outpatient treatment.
  • Lead evidence-based individual and group counseling sessions that focus on addiction education, coping strategies, relapse prevention, and recovery skills tailored to the IOP/OP setting.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update personalized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, focusing on achievable recovery goals in the outpatient setting.
  • Coordinate care with other healthcare providers, social workers, and community resources to support clients' holistic recovery needs.
  • Facilitate family counseling sessions and provide education and support to families to enhance the recovery process and strengthen the support system.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all client interactions, treatment plans, progress notes, and other necessary documentation in compliance with state and facility regulations.
  • Educate clients and their families about addiction, the recovery process, and available resources while advocating for clients' needs within the community.
  • Assist clients in creating and implementing a long-term recovery plan, including referrals to support groups, continued care options, and other resources.
Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field required; Masters degree preferred.
  • Must be licensed or certified in the state of Maryland as an LCPC, LCADC, LGADC, LCSW-C, or similar.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in substance use counseling, preferably in an inpatient or detox setting.
  • Strong knowledge of addiction treatment modalities, excellent communication and counseling skills, ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
