Position Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Power Generation Consultant who will independently assess, select, and implement standard engineering methodologies, utilizing judgment in making necessary adaptations and modifications. SynchroGrid engages in a variety of projects related to system protection across all sectors of the power system, including transmission, distribution, and generation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the execution of projects pertaining to SynchroGrid's generation services.
  • Craft proposals for new generation initiatives, including relay settings, panel replacements, studies, and compliance projects.
  • Support the marketing manager in preparing proposal submissions for prospective projects, which may involve reviewing technical specifications and requirements.
  • Coordinate regular meetings with clients to provide updates on project status and progress.
  • Collaborate with clients to deliver generation solutions using both internal and external resources.
  • Work alongside the team to ensure adherence to project specifications, budget management, and timeline objectives.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and end-users on the principles, operational use, and maintenance of integrated protection and control systems.
  • Assist in the creation, review, and quality assurance of relay settings and protection/control schematics.
  • Support protection and control engineers with inquiries regarding protection scheme applications and relay settings.
  • Generate mis-operation and root cause analysis reports.
  • Examine fault analyses to confirm appropriate relay setting pickup and coordination.
  • Conduct short circuit studies utilizing ASPEN/CAPE/ETAP software.
  • Prepare and review NERC compliance verification reports for all PRC NERC Standards.
  • Lead and contribute to the development of NERC compliance reports for renewable energy projects, including the review and adjustment of turbine relay setting thresholds.
  • Facilitate the development of Arc Flash analyses.
  • Contribute to the development of generation grounding studies.
  • Take responsibility for generator client requirements, particularly in compliance matters.
  • Assist in business development efforts by attracting new clients, which may involve traveling to present SynchroGrid's capabilities.
  • Implement stringent processes for the development and review of relay settings.
Qualifications:
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in developing settings for generation systems.
  • Preferred registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Experience in designing medium voltage MCC control centers and motor installations within power plants.
  • Familiarity with Arc Flash development in a power plant context.
  • Experience in power plant protection and control design.
  • Knowledge of protective relay applications and industry standards.
  • Experience in developing relay settings for SEL, GE, ABB, and electromechanical relays.
  • Proficiency with ETAP software packages.
  • Experience in generating calculations and reports for NERC PRC-025, PRC-019, PRC-024, and PRC-026.
