Role of a Safety Operations Associate

What does a Safety Operations Associate do?


As a Safety Operations Associate, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safe and high-quality experiences for users in a rideshare environment.

This position may involve handling challenging calls, as we strive to recruit only the most qualified individuals, reflecting our commitment to excellence.In this role, you will be vital in assisting users who have lost items or are facing safety concerns.

As a Safety Operations Associate, you will engage in wellness sessions and other resilience programs:

  • All employees will have access to counseling or coaching sessions to ensure awareness of wellness resources and job adjustment.
  • All employees will participate in skills-based resilience training.
Fostering a Culture of Awareness and Prevention:

TaskUs believes in being transparent with our new employees about their responsibilities and potential impacts.

Your duties may include interacting with users who are distressed, agitated, or in potentially dangerous situations.

Examples of such situations may include, but are not limited to:

  • Incorrect pick-up or drop-off locations that compromise user safety.
  • Inappropriate comments or advances made by users.
  • Instances of bias or discrimination.
  • Unhygienic vehicle conditions.
  • Calls from users who may be under the influence, reporting various concerns.
  • Accident reports involving vehicles or pedestrians.
  • Assault incidents involving users.
  • Users being taken to undisclosed or inappropriate locations.
  • Reports of violence or assault.
  • Medical emergencies experienced by users.
  • Users in distress, including those expressing suicidal thoughts or actions.


As a Safety Operations Associate, it is essential to be aware of the potential risks associated with this role.

While TaskUs is committed to employee wellness through available wellness providers, resilience programming, and other initiatives, exposure to distressing situations is unavoidable.

Individuals sensitive to distressing situations may be at risk for developing mental health symptoms or, in rare cases, Secondary Traumatic Stress.

TaskUs reserves the right to reassign Safety Operations Associates to other projects based on staffing needs and employee performance.


To foster a safe community for all employees, the Resiliency and Wellness Team actively engages in preventing mental health concerns through direct practice, e-learning, skills training, and outreach efforts.

Our programs aim to raise awareness about psychological issues, challenge ideas that contribute to social inequity, and empower employees to express themselves in healthy and productive ways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary contact for assisting users with safety or lost item inquiries.
  • Ask critical questions and provide pre-arrival instructions for emergency situations.
  • Gather and document all relevant information regarding safety concerns.
  • Handle all calls with empathy and compassion.
  • Submit appropriate tickets based on the nature of the call.
  • Interpret and analyze the caller's situation to resolve issues and direct them to emergency services.
  • Transfer drivers to the appropriate support line for non-safety related inquiries.
  • Document all tickets accurately to ensure proper resolution.
  • Provide empathetic support without direct apologies during emergency situations.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance guidelines and internal policies.
  • Adhere to security and privacy policies established by TaskUs.
  • Meet internal efficiency metrics as required by clients.
  • Handle escalations appropriately, ensuring they are reviewed by designated points of contact.
  • Enter information into the client database accurately.
Qualifications:

  • Willingness to work on-site.
  • Completion of an assessment, including a typing test of 25 wpm.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a remote team.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in response to process changes.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Willingness to undergo a background screening.
- 6 months of experience in Emergency Response preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in phone, email, and live chat support.
  • Background in customer service, sales, billing, collections, or technical support.
